But mud is not one thing Jordan is afraid of. At times it has gotten the best of the bike, but Jordan actually likes the mud~

After monsoon rains, thunder, lighting and wind just a few hours before race time it was not looking pretty, everyone was wondering what changes would need to be made to the race. Then came the decision to combine some of the classes… starting the Open A, 250 A, and 200 A bikes all together on the same line… which in turn made one complete huge line from one end to the other of the start line. Also the afternoon race was shortened to 2 hours. Well, the rain stopped the skies cleared somewhat and the white clouds and sunshine rolled in, but the damage to the track was already done.

The start went well getting the hole shot… then battling a little to get to the front of the pack before heading off the motorcross track into the woods, … heading out for the mud bogs beyond. First lap through the tent, the almost unrecognizable Jordan was already in the number one position and top amateur… coming in at 12th overall. From there battling the mud, trying to stay off the ground as much as possible and trying to pick the right lines was very important… staying off the ground was impossible this day! A hill or two became problems when riders were stuck all over them and no way around but he held the number one spot tetering a few spots back and forth and while it was hard to stay off the ground all day in that notorious Ohio mud, Jordan and his Kawi faired well finishing 1st in Open A and securing the Open A Championship and 8th Overall for the day.

Hot, and Humid were the words for this race with temps in the mid 90s and high humidity… it was not only a battle to win, but to survive the heat as well. After battling for the holeshot, Jordan came out on top, for his second hole shot award… Coming through 2nd the first lap in second was all looked good, but going into the next lap somewhere came a wall … and dropping some time is not something you can do with these riders… however then came then "second wind" and time to turn it back up… but as we all know that hard to do when you get behind in that row… Jordan did manage to get together with JJ though for awhile and in the end 5th was nothing to be ashamed of considering the company you're in. It was a good race overall as well as time to get in some good riding with some of the top Pros of the off road industry.

Thanks to all for your support and encouragement! Jordan continued to push his way up… making his way to 10th overall for a couple of laps but was unable to hold the pace due to some suspension problems encountered and eventually fell back to 13th overall. Coming off the injured list after 2 months hadn't given much time for a lot of practice, but he felt good going into the first round.

The new KX450F cranked over on the start and Jordan got the hole shot…after the start he attempted to pull out his lead, but as most riders could tell you it was not a smooth sailing race, whoops and palmetto roots, and a few large water holes were to be reckoned with. Still, after the first lap he managed to come in at 17th overall, and continue to pull out his lead over the rest of the class, aiming for the X2 riders.

By the time he came into the pit to gas on the second lap, he had to start conserving his clutches to contend with the track which would continue to deteriorate each lap, by the second gas stop track conditions had continued to decline and just staying upright and in control on the treacherous track would be a goal… in the end he did accomplish his goal, winning his class … and finishing as Top Amateur, blisters however was not a goal, although probably most riders did obtain those. He would weave in and out of the top 20 to finish at 21 ov.

Jordan wants to thank you all for your support for this season, and looks forward to a good year.

GNCC end of season report

                   Jordan Ashburn-race report

2009 GNCC Open A Champion

The 2009 GNCC season has come to an end and with it comes the Open A Championship for Jordan Ashburn. It didn't come easy… coming down to the last race of the season. During the season there were heated battles and some gremlins to work out, but in the end Jordan put in a super ride at the Ironman finale in Indiana and came out with the Championship and Overall Amateur.

Jordan's goal this year was the Open A title and at least top 15 in the GNCC this season and he obtained both of those goals… finishing 15th overall for the 2009 year.

It wouldn't have been possible without the help and support of ALL of the sponsors behind Jordan this year, who are greatly appreciated by Jordan, his family and pit crew.
